You've Been Told

Take the pills to take away the pain
It feels better to be a little insane
Being up high stops the world
At least that’s what you’ve been told

Make yourself bleed to make yourself better
You slice away because you’re not her
Making scars fixes the world
At least that’s what you’ve been told

Get drunk to get away from it all
Have one too many and begin to fall
Crying alcohol fixes the world
At least that’s what you’ve been told

Stop eating to stop the tears
Addicted to starving after all these years
Staying deathly skinny fixes the world
At least that’s what you’ve been told

Kill yourself to kill your past
Letting go makes you free at last
Hanging from rafters fixes the world
At least that’s what you’ve been told
