There's been news that an asteroid is going to crash into the moon tomorrow night. How cool is that? Not very, since all the teachers are using it as an excuse to give more homework. But still, everyone is going to be out there on Wednesday watching the impact. But why should you care? It's just a rock hitting a ball of dust in the sky. Whoop-dee-doo. But something happens...
The asteroid is denser and heavier than astronomers thought. It slams into the moon and pushes it's orbit closer to Earth, and knocking it off it's axis. And that isn't good. The moon is the balancing point for the tides and natural disasters on Earth, and until now, it's stayed right where it was supposed to. But now that it fills half the night- and daytime- skies, everything goes wrong. Tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanic eruption devastate the Earth. Coastlines disappear, along with entire islands. Ash fills the sky and blocks out the sun. With the supermarkets being robbed and month long power outages, and gas at over $12 a gallon, things look bleak for humanity...

I really hope someone wants to join. I'll post profiles if someone does. (Not original plot. Just from an amazing book I read.)

Jamie stayed inside her house most of the time. It wasn't exactly considered safe outside anymore. Every other day she had to go out on a raid though. To day was an even day, so she had to go out. She slipped out her back door and grabbed her bike. It was too expensive to drive anymore, with gas prices and all. She started off toward town. That was always her best bet to find food, but it was also her best bet to be killed.

Derek was posted in one of the abandoned buildings in town. Soon he would run out of the little food he had stored. He planned to go out, not now, but at night when no one could see him. For now he just paced alongside his window, ducking down when he caught the slightest movement.

Wednesday, everyone is outside with binoculars and telescopes, waiting for impact. Time: 9:30
7 minutes to impact

Ohh we're starting before it hits... Oh.

Lol it's ok. My fault for forgetting to tell you.

Jamie looked up at the sky through her telescope. Next to her was her brother with his binoculars. Behind both of them was the TV. Fox 5 was counting down the minutes and seconds to the impact with the moon. Her eyes didn't leave the sky and she rarely blinked.

Derek sat in his backyard with his mom and dad. They were all on a blanket looking up at the sky. The moon shone bright in the sky, illuminating their backyard.

Rowan sat back on her blanket and stared at the sky, waiting. Her TV was sitting in the window, counting down until impact. "This had better be worth it," she muttered.

Sym set up his lawn chair and laid out a blanket for his little sister. "Come on, Rae. You'll miss it," he called. Rae ran out of the house and plopped down on her blanket. "Maybe it'll look like a light show," she squealed. Sym sighed. "I doubt it."

Jamie looked back at the TV because the telescope was hurting her eye. Six minutes left until impact. She sighed and looked up at the moon with her naked eye. I was so peaceful now, but in six minutes there would be a meteor in it. She had already took many pictures of the moon, just in case it didn't look the same afterward. In fact it was almost certain the moon wouldn't look the same after the meteor. She got out her camera and took one more picture, for sentimental reasons.

Derek played with next to the blanket. He sighed, getting impatient. His mother had her watch set and was now counting down from five minutes. Five minutes until impact. He smiled slightly, curious at what the impact would look like.
